The beauty of travelling

Hello beautiful,

Do you enjoy traveling? Are you the one with a huge zest for adventure or a more secure discoverer when you are out and about? We both absolutely LOVE to travel and it is our way of living. We try to go to new places as often as possible to seek new adventures and widen our horizons. What we have realized, many times it really does not have to be that complicated – it is all up to you, what you make out of what you have! As we all know with an open mind and good intention you can see the world with completely new eyes, and it might transform your life to the better. On the other side of the globe or in a town next to yours – it really does not matter.

428833_10151346286096054_2008302359_nWe want to share a little bit about our way of traveling. In December 2012 we decided to visit Turkey for the very first time and off to Istanbul we went. It was truly a life-enriching trip and we had so much fun discovering a whole new culture and way of living. When we travel we always go local and it has truly become our way of traveling. We are members on the hospitality site couch surfing and if you donnot know about the concept; it is a site online for travelers or simply people that live with a hospitable mind and open to make connections world wide. You set up your profile for free and can, if you want, host people at your place/sleep at someone´s sofa/meet up for a drink/exchange ideas/help each other etc. and everything is on your terms. We have met so many amazing people thanks to CS and explored new places in a way we never would have been able to do by ourselves. It has really showed us the true beauty out there in the world and broken so many prejudices. In the end we are all the same!!! So far we have been traveling with CS in NYC, Israel, Jordan, Turkey and many places around Europe.. it has truly become a way of living!

istanbul3The hospitality people have showed and given us something we will carry with us forever, and sincerely hope we will be able to give back to the world in some way. We really appreciate all the people that have opened their homes to two completely strangers, showed us the beauty in their city and made us a part of their lives. You learn so much when you let go of your own way of living for a little while and put your trust in someone elses hands, and let them inspire and show you their way of thinking and being.

65021_10151337509181054_1091718333_nWhat we will keep with us from all our encounters with people around the globe is the fact that we are more alike than we ever could imagine. We all want to feel good, have a joyous time and play with one another. It is so basic and simple but yet it is too easy to be caught in the idea of letting religion, traditions and politics be the wall between us. As long as we let the idea of separation stand between us we will see each other as Muslim/Jew/Buddhist/Christian or American/Italian/Swede/Chinese/European/African and not as the brothers and sisters we truly are.

1363629366318We will be honest and admit that we have had prejudices (as we all have) thrown right back in our faces when we have been proven that our preconceptions have been completely wrong and litterly taken out of the blue (media has a BIG part of it). By now, we have lived enough experiences to be able to say we get what we seek for, and we have seen so much beauty out here in our world.  We have been sitting around a fire place in the dessert in Jordan with our Beduin friends and laughed until we could not breathe anymore, old Turkish men with no knowledge in English made everything they could to help us find our way, been invited to big family dinners in Sicily, left alone in someone´s place 5min after we met (hello TRUST) in Holland etc etc. we can keep going for ever!

Beautiful friend, we encourage you to keep look for the good aspects in everyone and everything. You will truly be amazed how friendly people will treat you. How many that will do everything to help you. Not talk about how many amazing situations you will end up in and over and over again feel so blessed to see the magic we can choose to surround ourselves with.

We want to share our top favourite peace and love song with you!
Sometimes I lay
Under the moon
And thank God I’m breathing
Then I pray
Don’t take me soon
Cause i’m here for a reason
Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around
All my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
For the people to say
That we dont wanna fight no more
There be no more wars
And our children will play

Keep shining and radiate peace and love.

With love,
Julie & Katrin

Kramar

  2. I also love to travel! It is one of my biggest passions, and I can relate to your words about how it breaks down prejudices and build understanding and love. There are so many places I cannot wait to visit, but I also agree that you do not always have to travel far away to experience a lot. Have a beautiful day!!

    • Wonderful thoughts shared Thess!!! It is amazing with travels, either short or long, and what´s the most fulfilling is the interactions with people. Everybody has a story to tell and when you open up you can take part of the most inspiring and enriching encounters. Hope you having a wonderful weekend! Hugs!

  3. Amazing post! Travel is….so important to me. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel briefly to various parts of the Mediterranean, as well as more extensively through Thailand, and then Cambodia and Nepal. I have so much more travelling to do though, and learning along the way. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on CS- a plan I have heard much about but never used myself. xx!!

    • Wow amazing places you have visited! Cannot wait to discover them ourselves as well. We definitely recommend cs or an other hospitality site, if you donnot already have friends or know local people. Perfect way to get to know people and explore the place you visit in a more local way! Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
