How are you today? New day filled with new possibilities. We want you to embrace it, today is your day!
If you having a bit of a rough time getting up in the mornings we want to share our all-time favorite morning ritual. Previously (just couple of months ago) none of us would have been able to start off the day without the beloved morning coffee. It was the holy moment of the day and if there was no coffee then there was headache or the feeling of the brain lagging behind. When making our transition towards a clean and healthy lifestyle we wanted to get rid of our addiction to the caffeine and not to mention all the toxins coffee consists of. So now, the first thing we do in the mornings is to prepare a glass of warm water and lemon. This totally sets the day and we are hooked – left is only an addiction to a boost of vitamins, nutrients and enzymes giving our digestive systems a kick ass start of the day!
There are several reasons why should start your day with a glass of warm water and lemon. If you haven´t started yet here are some of the health benefits:
- Aids digestion getting out food and waste which allows for a new fresh start of the day.
- Increases hydration.
- Purifies and helps with cleansing and detoxing. Your liver gets stimulated and is actually producing more enzymes from lemon water than any other food!
- Clears your skin thanks to the high levels of vitamin C in the lemons.
- Helps if you have a bloated feeling.
- Alkalizes your body, helping it to keep a higher pH level. An alkaline body prevents disease and decrease inflammation to larger extent. The key to a healthy body is actually an alkaline body!
- Supports your immune system.
- Helps with weight loss. This is because the lemon water keeps you hydrated and also contains pectin fiber which helps to have your cravings under control.
- Contains high levels of potassium which is an important mineral. Potassium is important for your brain and nervous system. As a matter of fact the nervous system needs potassium to assure steady signals to the heart.
- Helps lower blood pressure.
What do you reccon? Quite impressive we would say. What we usually do is to squeeze the juice of half a lemon in a glass and add lemon zest. Next is just to pour your warm water and start sipping on it. To get the best effects it is suggested to not eat anything afterwards for 30 minutes or so. Also do this the first thing in the morning and we assure you it will set the love tune of your day. Bottom up and live healthy!
