breathe in, breathe out

How are you today? Are you feeling relaxed and peaceful within you? Or maybe you feel overwhelmed and a bit stressed? Either way, it is so important to take your time and relax. Make space to listen to the inner voice that constantly is trying to guide you. Don´t ignore it.

We have both been on a conscious spiritual journey for a good while but it´s in fact only recently we have taken it one step further and started to meditate. Honestly, we can´t even describe what a shift it has done in our lives. We highly encourage you to take the step.. if you haven´t already. There are plenty of guided meditation sessions you can find online for free. That is specially a good idea if you are new to it and mostly feel like the man on the pic above 😉 YES – we all know that feeling!

We also wanted to share a little story we found online with you.

“A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.” She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down!”

Indeed, let´s put the glass down and enjoy the evening!

This is THE coleslaw

Who said raw vegan and/or healthy food necessarily has to be boring? That is only a lack of imagination.. if you ask us 😉 With that said we created this super tasty and satisfying raw coleslaw so we all can enjoy this famous fatty salad in a new guiltfree way. It´s a must try!

dressing – cashew sauce
– 3 dl cashew
– ½ dl apple cider vinegar
– 2 ½ dl water
– salt

– 1 small cabbage head
– 1 red onion
– juice from 1 lemon
– black pepper
– salt
– flaxseed oil/oil (optional)

Before we start, we have written the amounts but please don´t take it literally since fresh and living food varies in both sizes and taste. Go with the feeling and keep your taste buds with you while preparing this yummie meal! And one last thing, this salad tastes even better a couple of hours later or even the very next day.. that is, if you have enough patient 😉

Ok. Now let´s start!

First step is to make the cashew suace. Simply put the ingredients in your mixer or food processer and let it swirl around until you get a nice and tasty sauce. Put it in a bowl.

Chop the cabbage head and the red onion and put in an other bowl. Add the cashew sauce and the rest of the ingredients. Put as much or little of the spices you prefer. If you enjoy the taste of apple cider vinegar you can always make an extra dash in the end. Massage properly the salad to be sure all the tasty flavours are covering the whole salad.

Done! Easy peasy, right?

The Alchemist

One of our favorite books is the alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It is a wonderful story with many very clear messages but also a couple of hidden ones. We have both read the book on several occasions but each time we read it, we discover something new or understand one saying in a much deeper and profound way. If you haven´t read the book yet we definitely encourage you to try to get hold on the book as soon as you can – it will be worth it, trust us!

Here are some inspirational quotes from the book we would like to share with you.

Educate yourself

We cannot believe only 1,5 month ago we were not giving what we actually are putting in our bodies everyday as much attention it surely deserves. After we had a true wake up and decided to go cold turkey by going from our toxic diet to a high organic raw food-lifestyle this picture definitely tells more than 1000 words. Conclusion, we have to educate ourself. Take responsability for what we are feeding ourself with. If we truly are aiming for a long and happy life, we have to be sure we are treating our body with the greatest respect it undubitable deserves. So let´s educate ourself, eachother and work for a true change in the world. Support, inspire and motivate one an other to live a vibrant and healthy life. Together we can do it!

BANANALICIOUS with a date-cream

How are we doing today? Did you have a healthy start of the day or did you find it difficult to find inspiration for something simple, tasty and also healthy to start the day off with? No worries – here is a super easy meal that you can do in a couple of minutes, and depending how much of the two main  ingredients you chooise to add, you can make it your breakfast/lunch/dinner or a simple and quick energy fix.

Bananalicious with a date-cream
– Frozen bananas
– Dates
– Cinnamon
– Cardamom

Mix the frozen bananas with cinnamon and cardamon until you get a nice creamy consistent.
Put it in a bowl/glass. Mix your dates creamy. Add it in your banana cream.

Soooo delicious, simple and healthy. This meal will definitely fuel you for a good while.

So, why is this meal so healthy and good for you? Let´s have a look at the health benefits so you can enjoy it even more 😉

Bananas are known for their high potassium content, with over 400 mg potassium in a single medium-size banana. Potassium is necessary for good nerve and muscle function as well as for maintaining a healthy balance of fluids in the body. As with many fruits, bananas contain a good amount of vitamin C. And believe it or not but one single banana provides about 10 mg of vitamin C, or about 15 percent of your daily recommended amount. Vitamin C boosts your immune system and cell health and improves the absorption of other nutrients such as iron. Pretty good deal, right? Since B vitamins are more commonly found in animal products, it may come as a surprise that bananas are an excellent source of vitamin B-6, also called pyridoxine. So listen to this one; One banana supplies 35 percent of your daily B-6 requirement!!!  Your body uses vitamin B-6 to grow new cells. Bananas also deliver small amounts of other vitamins and minerals. A banana provides some iron, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus as well as vitamins A and E, folate, carotene and choline. Bananas also contain trace amounts of many amino acids.

You see, so many health benefits of adding bananas to your diet. There are plenty of more positive aspects so we will post a proper banana-post later on!

Dates contain oil, calcium, sulphur, iron, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, copper and magnesium wich all are advantageous for health. Awsome right?! Our lovely dates also help in fighting constipation, intestinal disorders, weight gain, heart problems, sexual weakness, diarrhoea and abdominal cancer. If that is not enough, dates are moderate sources of vitamin A (look under banana for health benefits) and an excellent source of iron. Iron, being a component of hemoglobin inside the red blood cells, determines the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. It is said that taking one date in a day will help you to maintain your healthy eyes for your lifetime.. and who wouldn´t mind that?

With that said, enjoy your bananalicious and your dates! Happy health to you all.

Fancy a strawberry love-bite?

Hello beautiful,
Today we celebrate one month as Raw Vegans and we could not be more satisfied with how this journey is proceeding. The benefits so far are really beyond what we ever thought would be possible to experience, and we are very grateful for all the inspiration and the people we have connected with online that have shared their thoughts and recipes. One of our greatest sources of inspiration, and a lot thanks to her, we decided to make the transition to become Raw Vegans – therefore we would love to share one of her amazing recipes. It is so simple and so delicious.. and most important it is healthy. The girl we are talking about is Kristina Carrillo Bucaram, maybe more famous as fullyrawkristina on both facebook and youtube. We definitely encourage you to check her out, if you do not already know about her.

With that said, let´s start making some LOVE PIE!

– dates1361216602820
– strawberries
– coconut meat
– banana

Start with making the crust. Add your dates in the food processor and mix it
until it becomes creamy and nice. Put it in your form. Depending how big
cake you want to make, mix as many dates you need to fill the frame.
When that is done, mix strawberries with a bit of coconut meat, banana and some more dates.
Add as much strawberries, coconut meat, dates and banana you feel for – so it tastes like you prefer, for example a lot of strawberry taste and less coconut flavor or vice versa.
But same here as with the crust, make as much cream that you can fill your frame.
Now, put your cake in the freezer and let it chill for a couple of hours.

Voila – ready to be enjoyed!

Here is the link to Christina´s video when she is doing this delicious cake.

With love,
Julie and Katrin
